Version 1.02 - 4/24/2012 - Enhancements/optimizations for jqUi

Why the name “jqMobi”

“Why JqMobi?”

JQuery is an enormously successful project on the desktop. It is so successful that we look at it as language unto it’s own - many developers today are  as much JQuery developers as they are JavaScript developers. To that end, we believe the the internals of how JQuery works are less relavant than the adherence to the JQuery syntax.
As an analogy, the implementation details of the Java Micro Edition (JME) VM are irrelevant to JME mobile developer. The message to developers for Java Micro Edition is - if you know Java then you know Java ME. Of course, not every feature of other Java editions are available in JME, but, a strong effort is made to deliver the ones that really matter. How that is done is under the covers, on a device by device VM basis, is largely irrelevant to the mobile Java developer.
Our message to JQuery developers is “if you know JQuery, you know jqMobi” and, similar to Java Micro Edition, in the  jqMobi version not every aspect of other JQuery editions are available in the jqMobi version. Our goal was simply to make a version of the JQuery *language* that is optimized for webkit smart devices (i.e. the overwhelming majority of the smart device market).
